How Service Bodies and Utility Beds Change Equipment Selection

How Service Bodies and Utility Beds Change Equipment Selection — Olympic Equipment educational video

A service body changes more than the truck’s appearance. Permanent compartments, tools, and equipment add weight and can alter its distribution. A body that projects past the cab can also change access around lift arms and the vehicle. Document the completed truck, not just the original chassis specification. Include its normal service condition, body dimensions, and the jobs you need to perform. Have the equipment supplier review the exact lifting points, clearances, capacities, and approved accessories. Never treat a higher capacity label as proof of fit.

What to document before an equipment review

  • Photograph installed compartments, permanent equipment and access around the chassis.
  • Record the completed vehicle dimensions and typical tools or payload.
  • Ask which lift, approved accessories and service positions were actually evaluated.

A lift recommendation is an application review, not a promise based on vehicle weight alone. Follow the exact vehicle and lift instructions, use only approved compatible accessories, and resolve any uncertainty before installation or use.
