What Fleet Managers Should Record Before Requesting Equipment Quotes

What Fleet Managers Should Record Before Requesting Equipment Quotes — Olympic Equipment educational video

A useful equipment quote starts with a useful fleet record. List each vehicle’s year, model, wheelbase, body configuration, modifications, and intended service condition. Collect reliable weight information, including load distribution when needed, and the manufacturer’s lifting-point information. Add photographs and dimensions that show access constraints. Describe the work you expect to do, how often, and the available bay, overhead space, foundation information, and utilities. Ask suppliers to identify assumptions and exclusions in writing. Missing information should become a review question, not an assumed fit.

What to document before an equipment review

  • Prepare a vehicle inventory with configuration, modifications, weight information and photographs.
  • Describe the actual jobs, frequency and expected future purchases.
  • Ask for assumptions, accessory compatibility, installation responsibilities and exclusions in writing.

A lift recommendation is an application review, not a promise based on vehicle weight alone. Follow the exact vehicle and lift instructions, use only approved compatible accessories, and resolve any uncertainty before installation or use.
