Planning Service Access Around Running Boards and Side Steps

Planning Service Access Around Running Boards and Side Steps — Olympic Equipment educational video

Running boards and side steps can occupy the space a lift arm or adapter needs to reach the vehicle’s approved lifting points. Photograph the exact installation and document the available approach clearance. A step that looks sturdy is not automatically a lifting point. Do not improvise with blocks or unapproved adapter combinations to get around it. Ask the vehicle and equipment specialists to review arm reach, approved accessories, clearances, and the intended service work. If the documented contact arrangement cannot be achieved, stop and evaluate another suitable setup.

What to document before an equipment review

  • Photograph the running boards or steps and their position relative to approved lifting points.
  • Document approach and arm-clearance constraints without treating the steps as load-bearing contact points.
  • Request an approved equipment/accessory arrangement rather than improvised blocks or adapters.

A lift recommendation is an application review, not a promise based on vehicle weight alone. Follow the exact vehicle and lift instructions, use only approved compatible accessories, and resolve any uncertainty before installation or use.
