Collapsed height is the lift’s height in its fully lowered configuration as defined by its manufacturer. It matters when checking whether a vehicle can approach and clear the equipment. But one number does not answer every clearance question. Ramps, pads, extensions, the vehicle’s wheelbase and its lowest body or exhaust parts can all affect the approach. Compare the dimension drawing with the actual vehicle and approved accessory arrangement. Do not assume a lift is suitable simply because its advertised lowered height is less than the car’s ground clearance.
