What Should a Body Shop Look for in a Lift?

Olympic clear-floor two-post lift with black columns and red arms

Start with the repairs you perform: panel access, sanding, preparation and structural work can call for different equipment. Compare working height, access around the body and the lift’s approved vehicle support arrangement. A normal service lift is not automatically a frame-straightening bench or a support system for a partly dismantled body. Check how the planned work changes the vehicle and what its service information requires. Review dust, coatings and other environmental exposure with the equipment manufacturer. Match the lift to the job instead of adapting an unsuitable setup.
